Choosing the Right Case for your Custom Gaming PC

Let's cut straight to the point: choosing the right case is crucial when looking into investing in a new custom PC build or custom gaming PC. However, it does require planning ahead of time, as you don't want to buy a motherboard that is ITX and buy a case that doesn't support it, or buy too many drives without enough bays to house them. That is why it is important to research before you buy. Let's look at a couple of tips that will help you get into the right computer case for your future custom PC, whether it’s a pink PC, workstation tower, or home server!

Size Matters for some custom PC enthusiasts!

One of the biggest issues I see when it comes to PC cases is consumers purchasing the wrong size case for their motherboard. There are plenty of options that allow universal use of motherboards; however, you cannot stick an ATX board in a mini-ITX case—that is just not possible. As I have stated in blogs in the past, it is crucial to research the components you are looking into investing in. This includes the motherboard, the number of fans you are looking into, if you are purchasing an all-in-one cooler, the radiator size, GPU size, PSU size, HDD size, and more. All of these can haunt you and cause delays in your custom gaming PC build if you do not research what will fit into your case.

Let's be honest with ourselves here and say that consumers typically get an SSD and maybe a bigger terabyte HDD in their builds and call it a day. Many of you know my viewpoint on never having enough space in your custom PC, and if you are like me, you want to be prepared for extra space. This isn't a blog about what you can do with mass amounts of storage; however, if you are someone who does use a lot of storage, making sure your new case is prepared to house extra amounts of HDDs or SSDs is crucial.

You want your Custom Gaming PC to Look Nice

This boils down to personal preference. If you want something that is basic but gets the job done, then that is okay. However, your case is the home for all of your components and is the first thing, and in some instances the only thing that people will see when they see your custom gaming PC. That isn't important to some, but to others it could be incredibly important. We also live in a time when case customization with third-party modifications is thriving, so investing in a case that has even more potential for better looks or added features is a big bonus as well. Pink gaming PCs, wood PCs, and more are some of the wide variety of options that case manufacturers are trying to cater to with new and exciting PC case designs.

Picking your new PC case is never easy, especially since it really is a core component of custom PC builds. Luckily, we live in a world where everyone is vocal about everything, and if there is a specific case you are looking into, there is bound to be someone online who can provide insight into said case.
