E3 is as good as Christmas to gamers. The weeks leading up to the event are full of rumor and speculation – some good some bad. In any event, there is something special about discussing the possibilities of new games knowing that the road map of releases will soon be much clearer. Here is a look at somethings to expect.
The Outer Worlds & Bethesda
The Outer Worlds has a lot of expectations riding the game into E3. Fans of Bethesda are disappointed with the direction of the company, and they’re looking to Obsidian to capitalize on Bethesda’s misfortune. They showed a brief demonstration of the game at Pax East this year, which looked promising to everyone itching to defect from the ranks of Bethesda fandom. E3 represents their chance to steal a great deal of attention up until release.
Speaking of Bethesda, they have been on the hook at E3 for the last few years because of the massive anticipation of The Elder Scrolls 6. Last year, they played a brief title screen for the game to manage the restlessness of fans. This year, they have announced well before the event that there will be no mention of The Elder Scrolls or their other work in progress, Starfield. It will be interesting to see if they use any of their time to address the state of Fallout 76. What will be more interesting is how they acknowledge the game’s rocky first year.
CyberPunk 2077
CyberPunk 2077 is on a lot of minds at E3 for the second year in a row. The date of release is the biggest question surrounding CyberPunk right now. CD Projekt red has shown the game off, and their success with The Witcher 3 speaks for the team’s talents. Expect to see more of the way the game will look while running on a gaming PC, understand its mechanics better, and potentially learn when the game comes out – though rumors suggest it may not be as early as people think.
Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 was mentioned in a previous post. The game has a lot to build on with its predecessor. The studio has made some bold claims about the depth and ambition of Dying Light 2, so expect a meaty game play demonstration, and to know when the game will be released.
