Our custom workstation configurator is one of the best we offer on our website. This customer took advantage of the options we have listed, and chose a great combination of components. The Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 case is great for expansion and air-cooling, and is quite heavy duty when it comes to carrying multiple high-end components. The end-user chose two Xeon E5520 processors for his computing power, and two Thermalright Ultra 120 heatsinks for superior cooling. An Nvidia GTX 275 is the graphics processor for this workstation, and will serve the customer well with gaming performance, or visual rendering tasks. A total of 12Gb of Crucial RAM was installed to maximize productivity in all aspects of the system, and will ensure the end-user will have no problems utilizing any amount of tasks simultaneously. All of the above named hardware was assembled in a Supermicro X8DAi-O motherboard, known for its fantastic expansion. Four Western Digital 500GB RE3 hard drives are set in a RAID configuration, using the 3WARE 9650SE controller card. This will not only increase the reliability of the array, but prevent the CPU from losing CPU cycles from an on-board RAID setup. The main OS drive is designated by the OCZ 120GB vertex drive, which the end-user will be quite pleased with the read/write times involved. A Corsair 1000W power supply will provide more than enough power for the workstation, while allowing future upgrades. A Plextor blu-ray combo drive will allow the blu-ray playback, and burning all DVD/CD media at the same time. Speaking of media, a Sabrent card-reader was installed to allow many forms of SD disks to be used with the workstation. A creative sound card will create higher sound quality than an on-board controller, with the option of some premium surround sound features. A maximum red LED fan package was requested by this end-user, allowing us to install as many fans that the Cosmos 1000 case will allow to improve air flow. As for the operating system, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit was chosen, along with the free openoffice.org Suite for Microsoft-like document programs.
